The Connection Pilgrimage

The Connection Pilgrimage

June 2010 saw an auspicious occasion take place with more than one hundred people making a pilgrimage from Central London to Canterbury Cathedral. Furniture Hire UK generously assisted the journey and a member of our delivery team was invaluable to the many pilgrims who took part, especially the Pilgrim Manager Roger Shaljean who commented "Colin T became one of us". The Connection at St Martins provides specialist services for homeless people including a day and night centre, outreach for rough sleepers, skills training and career advice, activity programmes and specialist support for complex needs. The organisation aids over 200 people in Central London every single day. They not only offer valuable advice, care and support, they encourage each person to address the issues which caused their homelessness within a welcoming and friendly environment. The Connection aims to support individuals and help them gain the confidence and skills to make lasting changes in their lives. Daniel Smith, Managing Director of Furniture Hire UK supports a number of charities and he kindly made this event truly memorable by offering not only one of our lorries for the day but also a member of our team. Mr Shaljean stated "your generosity was less of a secret and made real by the wonderful presence of Colin". The pilgrims utilised the lorry supplied by Furniture Hire UK for all their luggage and Colin T ensured the safe transit of this from London to Canterbury. He assisted the Pilgrim Manager throughout the day and clearly enjoyed the task, noticed by Mr Shaljean himself. He also commented "the lorry offered so much capacity that the previous anxiety, about squeezing in the extra equipment on day two, became a thing of the past". It is the generosity and community involvement which ensures pilgrimages made each year are such a great achievement and success. The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields
