Big Yellow Quiz
Friday 12th August 2011 saw the biggest quiz night in the world take place at the Brentwood Centre. The event was organised by the Saint Francis Hospice Charity and the Brentwood Centre generously allowed the charity to use their facilities free of charge for the Big Yellow Quiz. The aim of the evening was not only to raise valuable funds for the fantastic charity but to also break a Guinness World Record for the largest multi venue simultaneous quiz night. The Saint Francis Hospice is a team of specialist consultants, doctors, nurses and health care assistants who provide practical and emotional support for adults of all ages. The centre cares for those who have life limiting illnesses. The team not only care for people with cancer but their expertise extends to life limiting illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease, Heart Disease and Respiratory illness. The hard work and commitment shown by the team at the Saint Francis Hospice should never be underestimated. They care for more than 600 people with life limiting illnesses every single day. The charity even support and care for those who wish to stay at home in their own environments. At times when this is not possible the hospice brings patients to the centre for specialist care and control of symptoms. Over half of these patients are able to return home again. The Big Yellow Quiz allowed the fundraising team and hospice staff to raise important funds to continue the incredible care and support they offer. They are without a doubt changing the lives of many. Huge support was also shown by so many people across a range of venues around the world. The event at the Brentwood Centre also saw the support of the Mayor and Mayoress of Havering. The team at FurnitureHireUK.com was delighted to have assisted with the event and supplied 500 of our blue polyprop chairs and 50 circular banquet tables. The original order was initially 300 polyprop chairs and 30 tables but the order grew on three separate occasions and our team was more than happy to alter the order and ensure the stock was available. Lynda Head, Community Fundraising Manger commented "We were very pleased with the efficient and understanding manner that you dealt with our every increasing demands for more tables and chairs". Unfortunately the Guinness World Record for the biggest simultaneous quiz was not broken on this occasion but this will certainly not deter the team at the Saint Francis Hospice.
