Supporting The Connection for a 2nd year
For the second year in a row, Furniture Hire UK provided backing to The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields annual pilgrimage from Trafalgar Square to Canterbury Cathedral. The Connection provides a range of services, from career advice to a day and night centre for homeless people in London to help them get on their feet. Their annual pilgrimage is a 74 mile walk, and helps The Connection bring its members and supporters together and helps to raise funds for the charity.
Furniture Hire UK donated one of their lorries and one of their staff drivers, Colin T, to help with the pilgrimage over the weekend. The lorry was used to transport all of the much needed equipment and luggage from stop to stop, and for a change Colin helped with all of the luggage, which hopefully made a welcome change from his usual job of delivering and installing our furniture hire products! The pilgrimage manager, Roger, was particularly impressed with Colin, although he commented that Colin "takes quite a strain with all those rucksacks, next year we may wish to have a 'human chain' to share the load".
We are really proud to have been part of the pilgrimage and were particular warmed by an email we received from the pilgrimage manager, giving his sincere thanks to everyone at Furniture Hire UK for "their real encouragement of the business of social care for homeless people in London and Kent". As a company, we look forward to supporting The Connection with their pilgrimage next year as well!
One of the pilgrimage organisers commented: "For the second year, we are indebted to Daniel for giving us the use of a lorry for our luggage, and, more importantly, the services of Colin to drive the lorry and to manhandle the luggage. Colin is now a 1 member of the Pilgrimage family and we very much hope he will be able to be with us again next year (1st – 4th June 2012).
